New research shows that it is experiencing language and not sounds that helps with brain development.

Some parents of deaf children have been told cochlear implant surgery will prevent cognitive delays. The issue has been contentious among researchers. A new study out of the University of Connecticut finds exposure to ASL is just as beneficial to brain development as is hearing spoken language.
